wedding event temporarily wrap compost bin?

Hi there - I've tried searching online to get an answer, no luck. We are hosting a backyard wedding in 2 weeks, and I'd like to reduce the possible number of flies & bugs around our guests - would it work to temporarily seal off the black compost bin with a wrap of some sort?

Has anybody had success trying this? We already mix in dry materials every time we add our kitchen garden waste, but there are still bugs of course. Help appreciated!

I think wrapping the bin would be effective. To make it more so top your compost with a thick layer of browns. Options would be dry leaves, maybe straw, or if you don't have those use peat or maybe even soil. Make it 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) thick. Then put on your wrap.

After the wedding remove some of that layer and carry on. You can leave 2 inches or 5 cm if you like. I think this will work without wrecking your compost.

Best Wishes for the day.
